A few things...

It seems when I have the chance to sit down and blog about my crazy dog, Blogger doesn't want to cooperate. I have quite a few things to catch all of you, my avid readers, up on. So, without further ado, we'll get started!

First up, there is another woman in my husband's life. She demands his attention, smothers him with affection, and takes up entirely too much room in our bed. She leaves her hair all over the house and destroys my things and only my things, oh, and the pillows, too.

This other woman is Heidi and honestly, if she were a real human woman, I would be afraid for my marriage. Heidi gets so excited for Jeff to come home that the guy can barely get a foot in the door before his face is covered in dog slobber. She jumps up, placing her front legs on his shoulders, giving him a hug and a bazillion kisses before I even have the chance to say "Hello!". She gets jealous when Jeff and I try to hug or smooch, squeezing herself between us. It's clear that Heidi loves Jeff more than she loves me.

Giving her favorite human lovies!

Husband snatcher!
He will give her a command and she responds right away. I, on the other hand, need to give the command a solid 6-12 times before she even contemplates listening and responding to it. Little does she know, that is about to change. Jeff will be leaving for an extended period of time soon after the New Year. While he is gone, it is my goal to whip her wiggle butt into shape!

Next up, Heidi caught a lizard. We have a fire pit in our yard that toads and lizards like to use as a hiding place. Well, Heidi has a pretty good sniffer on her and she always knows when something is hiding under the fire pit. More often than not, it's a toad, that burrows itself into the ground a bit, so she can't actually get to it. This time, it was a lizard. Silly thing didn't stand a chance.
Sniffing the lizard out.

See the tail? Heidi also has an overbite, which is apparent in this photo, LOL!
Thankfully, she didn't eat it. I think she was a little creeped out by all of the squirming going on her mouth, so she spit him out and off he ran.

Tomorrow, our little family will be celebrating Christmas. We are heading up to the Mitten (Michigan) bright and early Monday morning and wanted to be sure Heidi received her gifts before she is dropped off at the doggy hotel. It's always so hard to leave her there for a week or longer, especially during the holidays, because she is a member of our family. Sometimes she's one of those family members that just drives us bonkers, but we love her regardless. I know she will play with all of her friends at the hotel and enjoy herself for the most part.

Here are just a few of my favorite photos of our girl:

Frog Dog! She always lays like this.

I love her the most when she is sleeping :-)

At Odds

Why did we ever get a Weimaraner??? There a days where I find myself asking this question..why, oh why? These are usually the days that Heidi and I are at odds with one another. Today is definitely one of those days!

We have been awake since 6:15 am, that is when Little Man decided it was time for everyone to get out of bed. My first battle with Heidi began promptly at 6:17am. I saw this grey flash out of the corner of my eye. Instantly, I knew that Heidi was up to no good.

Heidi does not like pillows for some reason. First, she steals the pillow off of the bed and tries to sneak it into the other room without me seeing her. Then, she proceeds to chew on the corner until she is able to pull the fluff out of the pillow. All of my pillow cases have at least one corner chewed off. I am always embarrassed when we have guests spend the night and each of their pillow cases is missing a corner. This morning, the grey flash I saw out of the corner of my eye was Heidi trying to sneak off with a pillow to tear it to shreds.

Oh but her antics didn't stop there. It's not unusual for Heidi to go in and out, in and out, in and out ALLLLL DAY LONG!! Some days, I tolerate it better than others. However, because our day had already started of on the wrong paw, her constant knocking at the knob (she hits her nose against the door knob to tell us she needs to go out) and jumping on the door was driving me BATTY.

Usually, she wants to go out to chase the squirrels off of her fence. Today, it was not the squirrels she was so worried about. Little did I know, she was trying to tunnel her way out of this piece. It wasn't until she came in with four dirt caked paws, tracking dirt all over the carpet did I understand what she was really up to.

The Guilty Party

There must have been something on the other side of the fence to cause this digging. Sure enough, our neighbors threw a black poop bag over their fence and Heidi really thought it was a threat to our safety. She just HAD to get to that bag and show it who was boss around these parts. I also think she has some spare energy to burn off, she is a Weim with an abundance of energy. So, a trip to the lake just might be on the agenda tomorrow.

I love my dog but some days she really has to test how far my love for her goes. What do your dogs do that just drives you nuts?

Welcome!

Let's give this a go!
Hopefully, you are here because you have a Weimaraner, like dogs, or you like me. It is possible that you stumbled upon us by mistake and if that's the case, I hope not to scare you off.

Let me tell you about Heidi, my wiggle butt Weim. She is a 70 lb. three year old puppy with an endless amount of energy. When she wags her tail, which is docked like many Weimaraner's are, her entire rear end wiggles back and forth at high speeds. This dog has more personality than many human beings I have had the displeasure of meeting. She is persistent, smart, slobbery, smelly, loving, and incredibly patient...sometimes. More on that later.

Heidi can run, run, run, swim, swim swim, and then run some more, and then swim some more, and then...okay, sorry you get the picture. Her legs look like a female body-builder on all fours. Hmm, maybe that's not quite the picture I was trying to instill in your mind. Anyway, the dog's legs are HUGE!

Heidi running through the snow last Christmas.

"Just keep swimming..."

I am so excited to introduce you to Heidi and all of the things we love, hate, and hate to love about her. The past three years have been Weim-tastically wild ride...hold on to your harnesses!

Thanks for stopping by!
